Which product do I choose to use post-procedure: Professional Serum or Recovery Night Complex? The Professional Serum is designed to be used after in-clinic procedures. It is light and easily absorbed into the skin with a pH that is designed to be gentle on sensitized skin.
The Recovery Night Complex can also be used on sensitized skin, but it is better applied at night because of the gel-like texture that forms a light film over the skin to protect and hydrate it. This texture is also not conducive to the convenient application of sunblock or makeup which is why it is not recommended for use during the day.
As a night-time regimen on the day of the procedure, you can apply the Professional Serum followed by the Recovery Night Complex.
Why is the Professional Serum pink? Professional Serum contains phenolsulfonphthalein (a pH indicator) which is reddish/dark pink. As each batch of protein mix may have slight differences in acidity or alkalinity, the color can range from light yellow/orange to light red/dark pink. This is within our acceptable range.
It is recommended to keep CALECIM® Professional products in cool conditions, not exceeding 33°C or 91.4°F. Please discontinue usage of the product if the color appears to be different from the stated acceptable range.
When can I start seeing results from the Professional Serum? When Professional Serum is used after in-clinic procedures, the calming and soothing effect is usually quite rapid with patients experiencing some amounts of decreased redness, swelling, and discomfort within 15 minutes of application.
Can I use the Recovery Night Complex during the day? You can use this during the day if you do not intend to go out. Because the Night Complex dries to a thin film on the skin, it is not possible to apply sunblock or makeup over this. This is why it is only recommended for night usage.
Can I use CALECIM® Professional with Retin-A, types of Retinols, types of Vitamin C, AHAs, BHAs, and anti-oxidants? How do I incorporate CALECIM® Professional into my regimen with these other active ingredients? Professional Serum works well with most active ingredients commonly used in other skincare. Your skincare should be layered according to the viscosity of the product. Water-based products should be applied first (like toners, and watery serums), followed by gel-like textures. Light creams can be applied after, followed by heavier creams. For AM regimens, sunblock should be applied last. You can combine the Recovery Night Complex with other products, but this should be applied last in your regimen. This is because the product forms a very light film over the skin to keep moisture in.
Is this safe to use immediately after a skin procedure? It depends on how ablative your procedure was. All creams/serums/gels should only be applied to skin that has fully epithelized.
Can I use CALECIM® Professional products if I have acne? While the occasional pimple may be part of the natural process of skin renewal, you should avoid the use of any CALECIM® Professional skincare if you have active acne. Your doctor or dermatologist will be able to ascertain whether you are a suitable candidate for the product.
Can I use CALECIM® Professional products if I am breastfeeding or pregnant? Yes, CALECIM® Professional products are safe for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, we highly recommend that you consult your obstetrician/gynecologist before starting any new skincare routine.
